Advertising Manager Resume - Finding a Qualified Resume Writer

Finding a Qualified Resume Writer for an...
Advertising Manager Resume

If you're an Advertising Manager, you know what your job entails. You plan creative programs to generate interest in your company's product or service. Your day-to-day activities may involve working with art directors, sales agents, and folks from financial (after all, your budget's not unlimited). You likely work for an advertising agency or a major corporation.

Is it rocket science? No. But it does require -- at a minimum -- a bachelor's degree and significant experience in advertising, marketing, promotions or sales. And to get where you are, you've had to bring home the bacon. You've had to demonstrate a certain level of acumen in challenging the competition head-on and scoring market share.

The question is, now that you're looking for a position, can you find a resume writer who understands your occupation? A writer who talks your language? A writer who can craft an Advertising Manager resume that puts your best foot forward and scores the interview in a highly competitive marketplace? Former recruiter David Alan Carter recommends the following resume services for Advertising Managers... each with a Better Business Bureau score of "A" or better.

Considering a Career Move into Advertising Management?

If you're considering a move into advertising management from either a closely related field or from a totally unrelated profession, you'll be looking for a transitional resume -- and a talented resume writer to handle the assignment. Transitional resumes are some of the most difficult resume projects as they require a writer knowledgeable in at least two professions -- and the ability to identify transferable skills from one to the other.

Before you hand off that resume assignment, make sure you know enough about advertising management to... a) really want it, and b) be able to step up to the plate. Here's a quick overview:

What You'll Do: Your job will likely entail planning and directing advertising policies and programs at the product level, or supervising the same for multiple products/services at the department or organizational level. From developing budgets to motivating a campaign team to inspecting advertising copy and conferring with clients, the job of an advertising manager requires business acumen, leadership abilities, and a thorough knowledge of media production and dissemination techniques.

Speaking of knowledge, you'll need to be familiar with project management and spreadsheet software, as well as technology specific to the occupation, i.e. graphics or photo imaging software, desktop publishing programs, etc.

And it doesn’t hurt to be a creative thinker with the ability to generate a number of ideas per project, the talent for expressing those ideas with clarity, and the good judgement to weigh the relative costs/potential benefits of each in preparation for decision making.

Education and Training: Educational requirements typically call for a bachelor's degree, though not always. Work experience in the fields of advertising, marketing, promotions or sales are generally preferred.

The Future: The advertising management profession is expected to grow at about 14% through 2020. The highest demand for advertising managers will likely be in the technical services and information industries.

The Pay: As per Salary.com, annual salaries for advertising managers in the U.S. range from $56,500 to $108,400, while the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports a median annual wage of $103,350 for 2011.

Still good? Got those occupational ducks in a row? Great. The next step is to prepare for a consultative telephone interview with your resume writer. Treat the coming job search like the business it is, and you'll do fine.

Best of luck,
David Alan Carter, OccupationalResumes.com
